Ciro Adams is a member of the Wilmington City Council.

Vacant and abandoned properties quite often become crime magnets, fire hazards, dumping grounds and other detractions to adjacent and neighborhood residents. The risks to the local residents, costs for city services and depreciation of surrounding properties burden all of us. The mayor says there are 1,400 vacant properties in the city. I will responsibly vote for registration ordinances that require property owners and managers to register their vacant properties, monitor the condition of the properties and make minimum repairs to protect public safety. Curing this problem will go a long way in moving Wilmington forward.
